About

I’m Sam. I am a high school student with interest in engineering and the areas that envelop it.

I started my engineering journey all the way back in my early years, scrapping Lego Bricks that I had to create machines I would then play with in my neighborhood. I’ve spent plenty of time writing code in VSC but for more than 5 years now I familiarised myself with frontend development and the gist around it (React, Node.js etc) as well as Python. I’m learning C++, Rust, and machine learning when I need to really get out of my comfort zone.

I enjoy mixing logic with putting hands on the keyboard and getting a finalised product out to the public — that’s the reason I fascinated myself with engineering.

My main outlets are sports, such as football, and creative arts.

What projects do you build and maintain?

With little experience on my hands, I just tinker around with all sorts of things:

    1. Mainly web and app development, which I'm quite used to now
    2. Web extensions, that I make for fun for utilitarian purposes or just for party games with my friends :) Examples would be my spectrum and contexto game that I play weekly.

I usually like to reverse engineer everything, to give myself a sense of autonomy over all the things I own. I use a Kindle Paperwhite fairly regularly but wanted to make sure that I have full control of the device. That’s why I reverse engineered its embedded OS and built my custom launcher around it.

More recently, my interests have shifted toward IoT and embedded systems. I've been investing time into building the kinds of projects I dreamed about as a kid. One of my favorite recent projects is an ESP32-powered Spotify visualizer, a journey that started with a simple Arduino starter kit and later expanded to experimenting with hardware like e-ink screens, Raspberry Pis and PCBs.
